San Mateo County has started mailing sample ballots and voter information pamphlets to registered voters ahead of the Nov. 3 Statewide General Election.

Mark Church, the county's Chief Elections Officer and Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder, announced the mailing on Friday, Sept. 25. All registered voters will also receive a Vote by Mail ballot in October.

Three countywide Vote Centers open Monday, Oct. 5, for in-person voting. Additional centers will open in the weeks leading up to Election Day.

None of the Oct. 5 locations are in Burlingame or Hillsborough.

The early sites are the San Mateo Registration & Elections Division at 40 Tower Road and the Redwood City Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder office at 555 County Center. The South San Francisco Public Library at 901 Civic Campus Way is the third. All three operate Monday through Friday starting Oct. 5, then seven days a week beginning Saturday, Oct. 24.

Burlingame and Hillsborough voters who want to cast ballots closer to home will have to wait. The Burlingame Community Center STEAM Lab, 850 Burlingame Ave., opens as an 11-day Vote Center on Saturday, Oct. 24, operating weekdays and weekends.

Two more local sites open Saturday, Oct. 31: Burlingame City Hall's conference room at 501 Primrose Road and Hillsborough Town Hall's council chambers at 1600 Floribunda Ave. Both run through Election Day.

All Vote Centers are open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Election Day, Nov. 3, hours extend to 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Any San Mateo County voter can visit any center to cast a ballot, use an accessible voting machine, register or re-register, request a replacement ballot or receive multilingual assistance. Same-day voter registration is also available.

Church said in his announcement that the pamphlet covers candidates, measures and voter services. Pamphlets are available in English, Spanish, Chinese and Filipino, based on the language preference voters select when they register.

An online, screen-reader-friendly version is available at smcvote.gov under "My Election Info." Visually impaired voters can request an audio version by calling 888-762-8683. For general election questions, voters can call or text (650) 312-5222.

Vote Center locations are subject to change. Voters should check the county's Vote Center location list or visit smcvote.gov for updates.
