Burlingame and Hillsborough residents who missed the Oct. 19 online voter-registration deadline can still register and vote in person for the Tuesday, Nov. 3, general election.

California’s conditional voter registration process allows eligible residents to register or update their registration at their county elections office or an open vote center through Election Day, according to the Secretary of State.

Voters complete a registration form and receive a ballot. Their ballot is counted after the county verifies their registration.

Residents unsure whether they are registered can check their status at voterstatus.sos.ca.gov.

Where to register and vote

Three San Mateo County vote centers opened Oct. 5. Additional locations will open before Election Day, according to the county elections office.

Residents can visit any open vote center in the county to register, vote in person, return a completed ballot or request a replacement ballot.

The county’s vote-center lookup lists locations, opening dates and hours. It also identifies official ballot drop boxes, which accept completed ballots but do not provide registration services.

What else to know

Voters within Burlingame School District will decide Measure R, a school bond measure, according to the county election page. Voters should check their individual ballot for the measures and races that apply to their address.

All active registered voters receive a vote-by-mail ballot.

The county listed an estimated 449,000 registered voters and 38,505 mail ballots received as of 5 p.m. Oct. 19. Those preliminary figures are updated daily.

For assistance, residents can call or text the county elections office at 650-312-5222. The Secretary of State’s voter hotline is 800-345-8683.

Election Day voting ends at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3.
