Burlingame’s Halloween forecast calls for partly sunny skies Saturday, Oct. 31, followed by a chance of rain mainly after 11 p.m.

The National Weather Service forecast, updated at 11:27 a.m. Oct. 27, lists a high near 61 degrees and an overnight low around 51. The overnight low does not indicate the temperature families will encounter during evening trick-or-treating.

In its Oct. 27 regional forecast discussion, NWS said the likelihood of significant Halloween weekend rainfall had declined. Forecast models increasingly favored Southern California for the bulk of the rain, although uncertainty remained.

Coastal flood advisory through Friday

A separate coastal flood advisory remains in effect for San Francisco Bay shoreline locations through 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30.

NWS warns that water could reach up to 2.1 feet above ground level in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. High tides could flood infrastructure and cause isolated road closures.

The regional discussion attributes elevated water levels to high astronomical tides and surge effects, partly associated with El Niño.

At the San Francisco tidal gauge, Saturday’s high tide is forecast to reach about 1 foot above normal at 3:44 p.m. That is a water-level forecast for the gauge, rather than an expected flood depth throughout Burlingame.
