Burlingame High School's drama program will stage four performances of "Little Shop of Horrors" Nov. 13 through Nov. 15, with tickets going on sale Saturday, Oct. 24 at 2 p.m.
Evening shows on Nov. 13 and Nov. 14 start at 7:30 p.m. Matinees on Nov. 14 and Nov. 15 begin at 1:30 p.m.
Adult tickets cost $25. Seniors and students pay $15. San Mateo Union High School District (SMUHSD) students get in free with a student ID, according to the Burlingame Chamber of Commerce on X.
The BHS Panther Theater website lists the Oct. 24 on-sale time and full show schedule but had not yet posted a direct ticket link as of Wednesday, Oct. 21.
The musical follows a plant-store worker who desperately wants to leave Skid Row and discovers a plant that offers him the chance to do just that, for a price. Drama teacher Michelle Shannon and music director Rick Reynolds led the casting process, selecting no more than 16 students from an original pool of 35 who auditioned in September, the student newspaper The Burlingame B reported.
Shannon described the show's central question in that September interview: "I think the biggest thing, really, truly, is when you're really lost, and an opportunity comes knocking, but it's not always smart or can be vicious – do you take it? Do you take the easy way out?"
The Burlingame High School Drama Facebook page has been posting rehearsal clips since early October, including a video captioned "Love is in the air… Seymour is on the floor" that had drawn more than 600 views.
Junior Israel Pubien, who auditioned for the role of Audrey II, told The Burlingame B he appreciates the musical for its music and the diversity of the main cast.
