Allen Sinor's 1945 Ford GPW looks like it could still bounce across a battlefield. The Burlingame resident's fully restored WWII combat jeep will be one of 60 vehicles lining Lorton Avenue on Aug. 16 for the 3rd Annual Wheels Through Time Car Show, part of the Burlingame On The Avenue festival weekend.

The Ford GPW was one of more than 277,000 that Ford built between 1941 and 1945 as part of a combined production run of roughly 647,000 jeeps alongside Willys. Gen. Dwight Eisenhower listed the vehicle among the five pieces of equipment most vital to Allied success in Africa and Europe. Gen. George Marshall called it "America's greatest contribution to modern warfare."

Sinor's jeep is one of several standout vehicles the Burlingame Chamber of Commerce has been spotlighting on social media ahead of the show. Brian Chinn will bring his 1965 Sunbeam Tiger, a British roadster with a modified Ford 289 engine producing approximately 310 horsepower.

Only 7,083 Tigers were built.

Larry Harper's restored 1959 VW 11-Window Micro Bus rounds out the featured lineup.

The car show runs from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Lorton Avenue. CareLikeYou will offer free live car care demonstrations throughout the day, including wheel restoration at 10 a.m., ceramic protection at 11:30 a.m., interior care at 1 p.m. and the CareLikeYou Process at 2:30 p.m.

Beyond the cars, the BOTA Main Stage hosts Sheryl and The Pretenders, a Sheryl Crow and Pretenders tribute band led by vocalist Claudia Sue Conrad, from 11:40 a.m. to 1:10 p.m. on Aug. 16.

Burlingame On The Avenue, now in its 32nd year, runs Aug. 15–16 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Burlingame Avenue and surrounding streets. The festival is organized by the Burlingame/SFO Chamber of Commerce and expects more than 65,000 attendees over the weekend.
