Burlingame residents won't have a chance to address their City Council until Monday, Aug. 17, after two consecutive meeting cancellations left the five-member body without a regular session for six weeks.

The council's Monday, Aug. 3 meeting was canceled, according to the city's Legistar record, following the cancellation of the Monday, July 20 session. Both were announced at the council's Monday, July 6 regular meeting.

No reason was given.

The gap stretches from July 6 through Aug. 17, the longest the council has gone without a regular meeting this year.

What was on the table July 6

The last time Mayor Michael Brownrigg, Vice Mayor Andrea Pappajohn and Councilmembers Donna Colson, Desiree Thayer and Peter Stevenson met was July 6. According to the meeting agenda, that session covered a proposed transient occupancy tax measure for the November 2026 ballot that would raise the hotel tax from 12% to 15%, an update on the Broadway Grade Separation from Caltrain, a briefing on the Mahler Road properties from San Mateo County and Horizon Treatment Services, and an update on the historic resource evaluation of the existing City Hall.

None of those items has come back before the council since.

When residents can weigh in next

The next regular City Council meeting is Monday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. at Burlingame City Hall, 501 Primrose Road. The meeting will also be accessible via Zoom. The agenda for that session has not yet been published.
