The Burlingame City Council will interview candidates for the Parks and Recreation Commission at a special meeting Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 5:30 p.m.

The session takes place in Conference Room A at Burlingame City Hall, 501 Primrose Road. Residents can also watch or participate via Zoom using Meeting ID 815 1256 9645 and Passcode 279126 at www.zoom.us/join, or by phone at 1-669-900-6833.

All five council members are listed on the agenda: Mayor Michael Brownrigg, Vice Mayor Andrea Pappajohn, Donna Colson, Desiree Thayer and Peter Stevenson. Thayer will attend remotely from Toronto.

The agenda lists three substantive items: a discussion of candidate questions, candidate interviews and an optional discussion of candidates afterward. The city published the agenda Friday, Sept. 11.

The agenda does not name the applicants or specify how many seats are open.

As of the commission's Aug. 20 meeting, the seven-member body included Chair John Brunello, Vice Chair Howard Wettan, Cherie Yu, John Giere, Todd Weller, Elizabeth Francesconi and Dale Chang. The commission normally meets at the Burlingame Community Center, 850 Burlingame Avenue, and its next regular meeting is Thursday, Sept. 17.

The council used the same special-session interview format on March 17 when it filled seats on the Measure I Oversight Committee and the Planning Commission. That session also started at 5:30 p.m. in Conference Room A.

Residents who want to speak at Tuesday's council session in person must fill out a "Request to Speak" card at the door. Speakers get two minutes each. The mayor may adjust the limit. Written comments can be emailed to [email protected] by 4 p.m. Tuesday to be included in a supplemental packet sent to the council before the meeting.

Anyone needing accessibility assistance or language help should contact City Clerk Meaghan Hassel-Shearer by 10 a.m. Tuesday at (650) 558-7203 or [email protected].

The next regular City Council meeting is Monday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m.
