Burlingame's varsity football team blanked Arroyo 49-0 on Saturday, Sept. 12, in San Lorenzo, pushing the Panthers to 3-0 on the season.
Senior quarterback Mark O'Grady did most of his damage through the air, completing 6 of 9 passes for 171 yards and four touchdowns. He was just as dangerous on the ground, carrying the ball four times for 55 yards, including a 61-yard touchdown run. His only turnover was a single interception.
Senior wide receiver and cornerback Will Armstrong was O'Grady's top target, hauling in four catches for 108 yards and two scores. Armstrong also caught two touchdown passes in the Panthers' 41-13 win over Carlmont on Sept. 4, giving him four receiving touchdowns across the last two games.
The JV squad did its part earlier in the doubleheader, beating Arroyo 36-7 to complete the sweep, Burlingame High School Athletics posted on X.
The shutout caps a three-game stretch in which Burlingame's varsity has dominated. The Panthers opened the season with a win, then beat Carlmont 41-13 at home before dismantling Arroyo.
In the Carlmont game, senior cornerback Dylan Black intercepted a pass in the end zone in the first quarter to prevent a score. Senior fullback Fotu Lavulo added two rushing touchdowns, and senior running back Qasim Abutair found the end zone on a 15-yard run.
After that Sept. 4 victory, Black told The Burlingame B he had one goal for the rest of the season: "I'm just looking forward to staying undefeated. You know, we can't be losing, so just keeping that zero on our record."
Three weeks in, that zero is intact. Head coach John Philipopoulos said after the Carlmont game that the lopsided win over a strong opponent showed what his roster could become, calling the Scots "definitely the best Carlmont team that we've seen probably in the last 10 years."
