Burlingame's long-delayed Easton Branch air-conditioning project and a funding decision for the Lane Room renovation top the Library Board of Trustees agenda when the panel meets at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, in the Main Library, 480 Primrose Road.

The Easton Branch HVAC upgrade has appeared on the board's agenda since at least November 2025. As of the board's February 17 meeting, City Librarian Brad McCulley reported the project was still awaiting Building Department approval of the design and work plan before it could go out to bid. No dollar figures, contractor names, or updated timeline have been made public.

Demand at the branch remains high: the location at 1800 Easton Drive logged 6,588 checkouts in January 2026, up from 5,605 a year earlier, and draws roughly 3,700 visitors per month.

Also under unfinished business, the board will discuss its own financial contribution to the Lane Room Renovation fund. The Lane Room, located in the Main Library, serves as a program space for storytimes and community events and doubles as cooling-center overflow during extreme heat. Design documents were presented at the June 16 meeting, but no cost estimates or fundraising totals have been released publicly.

Under new business, the agenda lists Ray DeLara as temporarily leading board meetings when the Arts Commission begins. DeLara's exact role is not explained in the published agenda; he does not appear on the five-member trustee roster, which names Chair Sid Palani, Mark Lucchesi, Kerry Bitner, Uma Rao Krishnan, and Jill Goldsmith.

The board will also recap a June 27 artificial-intelligence workshop.
