Larry Chinn, a jazz pianist with more than 30 years on Bay Area stages, is listed to perform at Max's of Burlingame on Monday, Aug. 24, starting at 6 p.m., according to a Patch AM event listing.

The show lands at the bayfront restaurant's regular live music night. Max's, at 1250 Old Bayshore Hwy., hosts musicians Monday through Saturday, with entertainment running 6 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 7 to 11 p.m. on weekends, according to the venue's OpenTable page.

Chinn is no stranger to premier jazz rooms. Based in Palo Alto, he trained at Berklee College of Music and has played Yoshi's, Pearl's and the Monterey Jazz Festival over a career that includes stints alongside saxophonist John Handy and Pharoah Sanders, according to his personal website. He has also held extended working relationships with Bay Area jazz artists Al Molina, Margie Baker and Jules Broussard.

His reputation precedes him. Bay Area vocalist Thu Ho called Chinn "a fixture in the Bay Area Jazz community for thirty years" in a September 2023 Instagram post promoting a jazz duo performance with Chinn at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco.

Max's has operated at the Old Bayshore Highway location since 1978. The restaurant promotes its evening program with the phrase "Craft Cocktails. Smooth Piano. Relaxing Jazz" and bills itself as a gathering place for locals and visitors on the bayfront.
