A neighbor's phone call about a suspicious SUV led to an arrest in connection with an alleged residential burglary on the 300 block of West Santa Inez Avenue in Hillsborough on Saturday evening, July 18.

The neighbor reported the vehicle stopped in front of a residence at about 9:40 p.m., according to a Hillsborough Police Department statement issued Sunday, July 19. Officers responded and made an arrest, the department confirmed.

The Hillsborough Police Department has not released the suspect's name, specific charges, or details about what officers found at the scene. A Bay City News report published Monday, July 20, included a reference to "possession of stolen goods," but no official has confirmed that as a formal charge.

The arrest is the sixth residential burglary investigated by Hillsborough police in 2026, based on department statistics showing five through May plus this July incident. The department also logged two other burglaries at construction sites, commercial properties, or vehicles through May, according to HPD's monthly reports.
