Burlingame High students and families can meet representatives from more than 75 colleges at the San Mateo Union High School District's annual college fair on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
Registration opened Sept. 23 through the StriveScan platform. Families can find the registration link on the district's college fair page.
The event runs from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at San Mateo High School and is open to all SMUHSD students and their families. Beyond the college booths, the evening will include presentations on paying for college.
The fair is a districtwide event, meaning students from all seven SMUHSD high schools, including Aragon, Capuchino, Hillsdale, Mills and Peninsula, can attend alongside Burlingame High families.
What families should know
The district had not released the full list of participating colleges and universities as of Sept. 23. That list and the full agenda are expected to be posted in October, according to the district's website. No registration deadline has been announced.
Jonathan Dhyne, college and financial aid advisor at Burlingame High School, is one of two coordinators running the fair. He can be reached at [email protected]. Evestella Hanson, college and financial aid advisor at San Mateo High School, is the other coordinator and can be reached at [email protected].
Families with questions about registration or participating schools can contact either advisor directly.
Virtual financial aid workshop set for Sept. 29
The district is also hosting a virtual workshop on financial aid on Tuesday, Sept. 29, listed alongside the college fair announcement on the Burlingame High School homepage. Details on that session had not been posted as of Sept. 23.
The district first announced the college fair date on Aug. 26. SMUHSD held a similar fair at San Mateo High School on Oct. 20, 2022.
Families can check the district's college fair page for the full agenda and college list when it is posted in October.
