Burlingame High's varsity volleyball team claimed the Jeff Lamb Spikefest championship Saturday, Oct. 10, winning all four matches at Independence High School.

The Burlingame High School Athletics account announced on X that the Panthers won a tournament title Saturday. Its results graphic identifies the tournament and lists wins over Independence, American and Abraham Lincoln-San Francisco, each 2-0, followed by a 2-1 victory over Milpitas.

Head coach Hannah Korslund's squad now turns to a rematch with league rival Aragon at home on Tuesday, Oct. 13. First serve is set for 5:45 p.m., according to the Burlingame athletics schedule.

The matchup carries extra weight. Aragon handed Burlingame its first Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division loss of the season, winning 3-1 at Aragon on Thursday, Sept. 17. Menlo-Atherton also beat the Panthers 3-1 on Tuesday, Oct. 6, in the second half of league play. Despite those two defeats, Burlingame enters Tuesday's contest at 7-2 in PAL Bay Division play and 18-9 overall, according to the school schedule.

The Panthers have leaned on a balanced roster all fall. Senior outside hitter Jordan Toomey and junior outside hitter Ilsa Carlson have led the attack, while sophomore libero Aisla Haggarty has anchored the back row. In the Sept. 24 league win over Carlmont, Carlson posted 15 kills, 12 digs and five aces, and Haggarty recorded 20 digs, as we reported Sept. 29.

The Panthers went 5-1 at that Bearcat Classic before posting a 1-3 finish at a tournament at Menlo School on Oct. 3-4. Saturday’s four victories followed a 3-0 league win over Hillsdale on Oct. 8.

Korslund told The Burlingame B in September that she deliberately schedules tough preseason opponents to push her players.

After Tuesday's match against Aragon, Burlingame travels to Capuchino on Thursday, Oct. 15, then hosts Carlmont on Tuesday, Oct. 20. The Panthers close the regular season at Sequoia on Thursday, Oct. 22, and home against Half Moon Bay on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
