Chef Han Sungil, who built five Korean barbecue brands and 19 locations in South Korea, will bring his OLHSO concept to Burlingame Avenue for the first time at the 32nd annual Burlingame On The Avenue street festival Aug. 15–16.

The Burlingame Chamber of Commerce announced the addition on Tuesday, Aug. 11, describing OLHSO's menu as "premium cuts & flame-crafted plates; smoky, sweet & seriously delicious."

OLHSO, which takes its name from a Korean phrase meaning "that's right," specializes in live-fire cooking. The restaurant's signature technique, rooted in the Korean tradition of "Ros Gui," involves searing thinly sliced meats over open flame on a Binchotan Emberhaus charcoal grill. Han has made more than 20 television appearances in Korea and runs the acclaimed Woosiya (우시야) chain there, according to the restaurant's website.

The chef already has a Bay Area foothold.

OLHSO House, his sit-down Korean BBQ and seafood restaurant at 236 S B St. in San Mateo, features tableside grilling and a live-fire kitchen. The Burlingame Avenue appearance will come through the brand's mobile arm, OLHSO Korean BBQ Express, which handles catering and street events.

OLHSO joins a growing food vendor roster for the festival. As we reported Aug. 11, Cousins Maine Lobster recently confirmed its spot alongside previously announced vendors Sushi Obsession, Jollof Kitchen, KettlePOP, Crepes Divine and Little Sky Bakery.

The two-day festival runs 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days on Burlingame Avenue and expects more than 65,000 attendees, according to the chamber. The event also features live music, art vendors, the Wheels Through Time car show and family activities.

No announcement has been made about a permanent OLHSO location on Burlingame Avenue. The restaurant's next confirmed local appearance is at the festival on Saturday, Aug. 15, and Sunday, Aug. 16.
