Several bus stops in the Burlingame area will disappear Sunday, August 2, when SamTrans launches its fall schedule and reroutes two lines that serve local schools.
Route CSM will no longer stop along Alameda de las Pulgas, Parrott Drive, W. Fifth Avenue, Dartmouth Road, or W. Fourth Avenue on weekdays, according to a SamTrans announcement posted Wednesday, July 29. Buses will instead run along El Camino Real and continue on state Highway 92, a change the agency says will speed trips and improve connections to Route ECR.
The route is also going weekday-only. Riders who relied on Route CSM on Saturdays and Sundays should switch to Route 250.
Route 30 will skip stops on Orange, Hoffman, and Chester streets. SamTrans said the change will shorten travel times to Pollicita Middle School and John F. Kennedy Elementary School. Families whose children ride to John F. Kennedy Elementary from those stops should use the stop at E. Market Street and Wyandotte Avenue instead.
Both routes were suspended for the summer on June 14 and are returning with these new alignments.
The changes land 17 days before the Burlingame school year opens Wednesday, August 19, according to the district's board schedule. That gives families a narrow window to adjust commutes before classes begin.
Ride Plus expansions
Elsewhere in the county, SamTrans is expanding its on-demand Ride Plus service. The Half Moon Bay zone will now cover Moss Beach and Montara, with service starting at 7 a.m. daily. The East Palo Alto zone will add Palo Alto Transit Center as a pickup or drop-off point, connecting riders to Caltrain, Dumbarton Express, Marguerite, and VTA.
Route EPX, which links East Palo Alto and Redwood City Transit Center, will also drop several stops to speed service. Riders affected can connect via routes 276, 281, or Ride Plus.
